John A. Lee Award Background:
John A. Lee (November 14, 1959 - July 31, 2021) was a patriot, beloved community member, and skilled driver for the Mount Gilead Exempted Village School District.
He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp. While serving, John performed water purification.
John loved his role as Cub Scout Den Master with the local pack 56 (originally 6056). He used this position to help kids develop life skills that they could use for their entire lifetime.
Having the gift to befriend everyone, John served the Mount Gilead Exempted Village School District as a bus driver. While serving in the MGEVSD, John connected with his transportation team, and more importantly to his students. “Mr. John” had a presence with his students that will be missed by every student (and parent that trusted him to safely transport their child to school on “Bus 1”) that he cared so much about.
Beginning with the 21/22 School Year the John A. Lee Award was created to celebrate the extraordinary efforts of non-teaching employees that exemplifies the leadership and service to the district that was readily provided by John A. Lee. The award is designed to highlight the work of outstanding non-teaching employees that exhibits the same love, service, and honor to their work to make the district a better place for all school stakeholders.
A committee will review the nominations and select one John A. Lee Award winner for the 2021-2022 School Year to be honored at the End-of-the-Year Staff Recognition Program. If you see one of these nominees, please thank them for the great work they do each day to make MGEVSD a better place to teach and learn!
