After spending a few years at the high school level here at Mt Gilead I am entering my 2nd year at the elementary level this year. and 10th overtall as an Indian. I will be handling the 4th grade Intervention duties and collaborating with some fine teachers as part of the 4th grade team. We will be working hard to ensure that all 4th graders progress academically this year as part of their personal growth. As a team, we pledge to give each student our utmost attention and focus and will, in return, be asking them to state the following pledge on a daily basis as part of their academic day:
I will be responsible for all my words and actions.
I will be respectful to myself and others.
I will be cooperative.
I will be safe,
I will be a problem solver.
I will be the best that I can be.
We encourage all parents to work with your child in not only memorizing the pledge but understanding all the key elements of it's contents. Let's not just say it, let's live it.
A little about me: After a 15yr career in manufacturing and a stint owning my own restaurant I made the career change into education. I longed to work with tomorrow's leaders, our children, for as long as I can remember. I am enjoying my time as a teacher here at Mt. Gilead as an Intervention Specialist. This is my tenth year at the school and I am now in my 14th year overall. I have three children: Jeffery (28) a surgical assistant in a large NE Ohio hospital, Garrett (21) a truck driver and supply delivery person for a large Columbus, OH based concrete stamping company and Paige (19) a sophomore at The University of Akron in Early Childhood Education as well as a beautiful grandaughter, Skylar (7) who is entering 2nd grade this school year.
Please feel free to introduce yourself to me at any time, whether I am in direct contact with your son/daughter or not as I am here for all students, not just those receiving Special Education services. Good luck to all students, parents/guardians and staff in this new school year.
